MMMHM

The most exciting thing of October would be the reveal of pieces from the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection. You know what, I am on it. I am prepared to queue all night or even all day and all night to snatch something back home. It is gonna be a chaos in the store by that time. Remember last time, Marni at H&M, people were going crazy and searching their targeted pieces. I was so lucky that I only waited for half an hour to get what I wanted but this time, seriously, it is gonna be a WAR. You probably do not know how crazy people go after such crossover things in Hong Kong. (Yes by that time I will go back to Hong Kong, my home town, to spend New Zealand's summer holiday). Let me remind you that there is no H&M in New Zealand, so I have to go back. Here are some photos of the MMM for H&M campaign. There will be a lot of re-issued and re-edited pieces so it is worthwhile to queue all night just like what people did for iPhone. What could be better to spending less for more MMM's styles and quirkiness?

A Shining Light

"Clothes don't have gender". I think it is most of the fashionistas' theory of being fashionable. However, wearing women's fashion without looking feminine is a challenging task and guys always blame that women's clothes are more glamourous, more extravagant, more good looking than men's. It is also hard to mix and match clothes without exaggerating. Francesco Cominelli, ex Vogue Homme International editor, was always photographers' favourite in fashion week. His ability of styling is undeniable and he had become my idol when I first looked at his snapshots. His looks are so so good in photos and it looks effortless to wear but somehow there are a lot of details he took care of. He will be long living in our heart, with love and blessing (He was found dead on 8th October, 2011).

All About Pattern

Though it is a bit late (not a bit) to post these, here are what I photographed during NZFW.

Baroque Beehive

I think it was the first time I love bees when I saw the Alexander McQueen skull ring. In the Spring Summer 2013 show yesterday in Paris, they had surprised people with exaggerated head pieces and glamourous couture. By using beehive and golden embellishment, the collection showed women's power and strength in their real life. As you may know (or not), there is only one queen in the beehive and queen bee is the greatest role there. I guess this represents there is only one Alexander McQueen in the fashion industry, the one who always surprises people with great works and every garments are masterpieces. The show had lots of extravagant accessories and embellishments and the tortoise corset was such an artwork. I always think that McQueen is challenging the extrema of human being. Crazy high heels, huge dresses, and delicate accessories, all these pieces are probably made for Lady Gaga. Although you may miss the excitement and vision of the shows in the past few years, but Sarah Burton has been working a lot on the brand and I hope she could one day can be better with the late Mr Alexander McQueen and bring the brand on another level.

What You See Is What You Get

Since Raf Simons left Jil Sander I was a little bit sad but also looking forward to what he is going to give and wow people in Christian Dior. Raf Simons had shown his Dior debut during Paris Fashion Week. At first I saw the photo from the show, I was like, so "Jil Sander". I could smell a little bit of his Jil Sander's style and design (it should probably be Raf's signature but I just don't know why I categorised like that) but however when the tailored suits and dresses and those wide puffy floral gowns came up I also felt the edge and femininity of Miss Dior. As for Spring Summer, Raf had used a lot of strpies and electric colours in the collection which I love and that was the part I saw a shadow of "Raf's" Jil Sander. Tailored blazer worn as dress gives women an cool yet sexy look. Also, the dresses are covered with a layer of coloured see-thru material that makes the prints and the dress itself more dynamic and the material kind of changed in colours with the model's movement. The pointed toe stilettos has probably got on the buy list of all "it" girls.
